To our Veterans

The greatest thing I can say to our veterans this day is this:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

God bless you for your service and your sacrifice, and God bless your families

Another thing about me is that my real name is not Joel Uriel. I chose to use a pen name for this blog because:

1) Security - In the past, someone who disagreed one of my former web sites decided to cause problems for me at my place of employment.

2) Discretion - I do not want my views or opinions to adversely other website I maintain. Should someone disagree with my writings, other sites should not have to deal with these issues. They have other things to deal with that are much more important.

So how did I come up with the name Joel Uriel? Joel is one of the Minor Prophets in the Bible who warned Judah to repent quickly and completely, or else enemy armies would devour the land. In his writings, he often states that the Day of the Lord is coming. Uriel has various meanings, but essentially it means "The Lord is my light".

I am a Christian who way too often fails. Only by the grace of God can I claim any righteousness (my best is but filthy rags). The name Joel Uriel fits my beliefs: That the day of the Lord is at hand, and Jesus is our only light. Seek Him while you still may.
